Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 July 2026
This is a plain-language template for a small officiant service. It is not legal advice. Please review and set the details that are marked as yours to decide (especially the cancellation & refund policy), or have it checked by a professional.
These terms apply when you use the Weekend Weddings NYC website at weekendweddings.nyc and when you book our services. Weekend Weddings NYC is operated by Ruby Childs LLC, a limited liability company incorporated in the State of Delaware ("we", "us", "our"). By using the site or booking, you agree to these terms. If you have any questions, email hello@weekendweddings.nyc.
1. About the service & information on this site
Weekend Weddings provides wedding officiant and legal-witness services in New York City. The information on this site - about marriage licences, permits, waiting periods, witnesses, and fees - is general information to help you plan. It is not legal advice. Marriage requirements and fees change, so always confirm the current rules directly with the New York City Office of the City Clerk at nyc.gov/cupid before your date. Our officiant is registered with the City Clerk to perform marriages within the five boroughs.
2. Bookings, deposits & payment
You can request or book a date through our scheduling page. A date is not confirmed until you receive confirmation from us (or from the booking system). A deposit secures your date and is applied toward your total; the balance is due as agreed before or on the day.
Cancellations & refunds: [Set your policy here - for example: the deposit is non-refundable, or is refundable if you cancel at least 14 days before your date; rescheduling is free once, subject to availability.] If we ever have to cancel for reasons on our side, you'll receive a full refund of any amount paid.
Payments are processed by Stripe and bookings by Google; each is subject to that provider's own terms. We don't store your card details.
3. Your responsibilities
- Obtaining your marriage licence (via NYC Project Cupid) and bringing it on the day.
- Observing New York's mandatory 24-hour waiting period between the licence and the ceremony.
- Meeting witness and photo-ID requirements.
- Arriving on time and following any rules of the park or venue you choose.
Most small park ceremonies need no permit; a few spots (such as Central Park's Conservatory Garden) and groups over 20 need a $25 permit, which we're happy to help arrange.
4. Third-party services & links
Our booking (Google), payments (Stripe), and any websites we link to are operated by third parties under their own terms and privacy policies. We're not responsible for their content or availability.
5. No guarantee & limitation of liability
We provide our services with reasonable skill and care, but we can't control everything. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we're not liable for circumstances outside our reasonable control - such as weather, park or venue closures, third-party service outages, or licence problems caused by information you provide or by changes in City policy. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid us for the booking in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
6. Governing law
Ruby Childs LLC is incorporated in the State of Delaware. These terms, and any dispute arising from them or from the services, are governed by the laws of the State of New York - where the ceremonies are performed - without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
7. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
